Our Best Dressed of the Week

Wearing: Christian Dior Couture at the Emmy awards this week, Zoe Kravitz glided onto the red carpet like a rainbow dream. Her gown took over 200 hours to create, which looks straight out of our favorite fantasy land. Winning her a place for best dressed of the week.

Wearing: Rodarte, its one thing to show up in flowers on the runway, but Kirsten Dunst took us to a flower wonderland and wore them on the red carpet to the Hollywood Premier of her film Woodshock. She looked flawless with devine baby breathe wrapped around her floral gown. She earned a spot on our best dressed of the week.

Wearing: Calvin Klein, at a young age of 13 Millie Bobby Brown is a legit style princess. Her prima ballerina outfit at the Emmy’s looked like it was taken preciously from your childhood jewelry box and enlarged into the perfect dress. Millie absolutely earned a place in our best dressed this week.

Wearing: Brock Collection, at the London, England Premiere of her upcoming film Goodbye, Chris topher Robin. Margot Robbie wore a sweet frock in vintage floral print that rivals your grandmothers linens for some serious style.

Wearing: Molly Goddard, Rene Caovilla Sandals, for the third week in a row Rihanna has been showing us what her style is really about, the Emmy’s, and her appearance at Harvey Nichols. This time we are impressed to see her on-trend lavender babydoll dress paired with heels that snake up her calves like magic.

Wearing: We can’t help but continuously praise model Adwoa Aboah for her electric style. Only she could successfully wear a orange zebra fur coat, shoulder-grazing statement earrings, and glittery disco-ball eyeshadow.

Wearing: Romona Keveza, Angela Bassett attending in 2017 Creative Art Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, California. The actress grazed us with her fiery presence. Her dresses asymmetrical neckline contrasted by a blunt bob is a killer combo, winning her best dressed of the week.

Wearing: Tom Ford, we always strive to match our accessories to our clothes, but Emma Stone’s chained straps make that task a no-brainer. She wore a white-and-gold dress with great gold accessories to the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her upcoming film, Battle of the Sexes.

Wearing: Carolina Herrera, Lily Aldridge gave her simple LBD a touch of casual elegance with a statement belt at the Oscar de la Renta runway show. A vintage-inspired fabric belt is now at the top of our autumn shopping list.

Wearing: Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Solange Knowles debuted her platinum braids at the Maryam Nassir Zadeh show this week, but its her twisted top we’re eyeing. Worn with wide-led trousers and funky sunglasses, it’s a crop top you can wear during the unpredictable weather between fall and summer.

Winter Wardrobe, 5 Pieces For the Season

You know what we love about the seasons changing, and the cold weather coming in? Its not just the holiday spirit, pumpkin spice lattes, and getting to eat as much comfort food as you want. Its also the fall and winter style, our fashionista’s here at Find Fashion conform to a formula of moody colors and a classic coat as our everyday uniforms. However, this year we have noticed a trend. One that us even ready to change up our cold-weather wardrobes a bit. We have been pulling inspiration from the season’s biggest trends, and the bloggers styled fresh new looks using pieces that are not so typical for your everyday winter wear. We wanted to add these trends into our already loved formula to create a new and improved winter wardrobe our readers. So, with the help of some extra trendy bloggers and one of our favorite, Who What Wear Collections, we are showcasing two fun easy-to-wear outfits that you will have on repeat this season, all you need is five simple pieces.

The best thing about these outfits, you’ll probably already have some pieces lined up in your closet. We’re thinking new silhouettes and transformed metallics to really spice up your latte’s, as well as fall inspired florals and of course the beauty of the entire operation, yep you guess it: Velvet. If you haven’t already noticed, velvet is back and in full force. Dark ivory greens, and nocturnal deep blues are the perfect velvet colors to complete your snow season outfits. But don’t take our word for it, here are some babes that are already digging into these trends and exploring there five pieces to wonderland.

If there’s one item you should be wearing this season, it should be a slip dress, specifically a velvet one. Not only is it on trend and versatile, the luxe fabric makes it super cozy too.

Give the term “arm party” a whole new meaning with one of the season’s most playful trends. When your basic top-and-denim combo needs an upgrade, take a cue from the runways and opt for a top with bell sleeves. The silhouette is right in step with the industry’s current obsession with all things ’70s-inspired.

During the holiday season, Find Fashion gravitates toward pieces that are equal parts versatile and festive. A metallic skirt can sometimes be over the top, but do your best to find one that is silver and only has a hint of sparkle, it has potential to be worn year-round.

When you think winter fashion, you automatically think of coats. This season, however, we’re leaning on re-imagined styles like long cardigans that mimic details of a traditional coat but has a slimmer silhouette. We are really into layering, but sometimes it’s hard to do so when wearing something more bulky like a coat. An oversize cardigan gives you the same effect and more flexibility when styling a head-to-toe look and layering. Not to mention, you probably already have one of these cardigans laying around in your closet.

Florals don’t have to be relegated to the back of your closet during the winter, just opt for a moodier hue and a longer hemline. Florals in the winter are usually of the forbidden fruit, however a more fall emphasized floral can seriously take the spotlight at your annual holiday party! A darker palette, many even some gold accents and BAM welcome to fall floral season.

We hope you are as into these five pieces for your seasonal wardrobe as we are. Spice up your classic go-to winter look with some of these pieces and be ready to make heads turn at your holiday shenanigans.

Xx, B

Fashion Myths Busted – Winter Edition

There are A LOT of fashion faux pas floating around out there… you can’t wear black and navy, no white after labor day, don’t mix your metals…this week we are tackling some of the most common (and most absurd) fashion myths and busting them wide open. Let’s take a gander…

False! You can absolutely wear black and navy, and in fact it’s one of the most elegant color combinations of all time! The thing you want to steer clear of is looking too dark and flat. Add texture with different fabrics to differentiate the black and navy and try adding an additional color to break it up. Also accessorizing with bold pieces is a great way to add dimension to this dark chic look. Try a metallic belt or some great layering necklaces.

This is probably the most absurd myth of all time and though it’s been cleared up for the most part, there are still a few who stubbornly feel the need to follow this “rule”. (ahem, you know who you are) This concept originated in the 1950’s when it was seen as inappropriate to wear white dress shoes after labor day-aka the fall and winter months. Somehow this evolved to clothes as well and now here we are, unable to wear out favorite white button up because it’s December.

Well ladies and gents, this is so not the case. You can wear any color you want all year round, it’s fabrics you need to pay close attention to. In fall in winter, stick with heavier fabrics such as wool, cashmere, velvet because well frankly it’s cold outside. Add texture to a white piece by layering scarves, chunky cardigans, and a great winter hat. The easiest way to wear white is to play with black and white pieces. You can never go wrong with a black and white outfit.

Um, no. Florals are for all year round so don’t you worry. This pattern is super easy to incorporate into your fall and winter wardrobe, you just got to pick the darker florals. This means background colors like navy, grey, brown, black, purple etc.. My personal favorite is monochrome florals in shades of grey. This can add a fun pattern to an otherwise dull outfit but still sticks to the “fall color palette”.

Favorite Fall Trends: A Mid-Season Look

Robe Coats & Sweaters

Inspired by the classic house robe, the robe coat is usually mid length, ties around the waist, and has an oversized slouchy silhouette. Designers such as Chloe, Richard Chai, and Altuzarra included robe outerwear in their Fall 2014 collections ranging anywhere from thick knits to soft suedes. This ultra comfortable and cozy piece is perfect for layering in the colder months of fall and winter.

60’s Style (Mod)

The 60’s era is making a major comeback this fall. Anything from mini skirts, knee high boots, high necklines, and big hair, this mod trend is everywhere. Mui Mui, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci all incorporated the 60’s in their Fall 2014 collections with fun patterns, bright colors, and of course the classic mini A-line dress. This silhouette is perfect over leggings or tights, paired with a mid length coat and a bright lip color.

Fair Isle Print/Pattern

This popular print is the ultimate fall and winter must have. Seen on chunky sweaters, leggings, hats, scarves and everything in between; Fair Isle happily reminds us of the holidays. Included in designer collections such as Tommy Hilfiger, Rag & Bone, and Burberry, we are left day-dreaming of ski resorts, and log cabins.

Oversized Turtlenecks

The last time turtlenecks were this popular was back in the 90’s and boy have they made a comeback. Especially popular in thick chunky sweaters; oversized turtlenecks eliminate the need for scarves or even sometimes outerwear in general. They add texture, warmth, and sophistication to a classic fall look, so be sure to check out Helmut Lang, Joie, and Phillip Lim for some of our favorites.

The sneakers trend has to be the biggest trend this fall. Extremely popular with fashion bloggers, and high-end designers, the sneaker blends comfort and style in a perfectly chic way. Anything from bright statement sneaks to sleek neutrals with metal hardware; the sneaker trend has realism making a major comeback. Marc by Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Edun are just a few of the major designers having some fun with this 2014 trend.

Have fun with your fall fashion!

Jen 🙂
